Stren pro Dion Hibdon capitalized on an early bite at the final Stren Series Central Event, which was held on Lake of the Ozarks this past weekend. The Stover, Mo., native’s final weight of 55 pounds, 3 ounces earned him a prize package of $25,000, Ranger Boat, Motor and Trailer.
Using a short, limber rod named the “Hibdon Hammer,” Dion skipped jigs under docks. Spooling up with Berkley’s 100-Percent Fluorocarbon line gave him the confidence to reach far into the structures without worrying about breaking off any fish.
Hibdon credited his father, and FLW pro, Guido Hibdon with his success on the water.
“If it wasn’t for dad, I wouldn’t have known what to do this week,” said Hibdon. “Ninety percent of this is because of him. He showed me key areas of docks to target, and the rest fell into place.”
The win put Hibdon into the $1 million club in tournament winnings, and gave the pro angler his third tournament victory.
